Staying Healthy this Winter

Graphic of hands washing and text that stays stay healthy this season

As we enter the peak season for respiratory illnesses such as influenza, COVID-19, and RSV, taking simple preventive steps can help keep our school community healthy.

To reduce the spread of illness, please:

  • Wash hands frequently with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds

  • Cover coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue

  • Stay home if feeling unwell

  • Stay up to date on recommended seasonal vaccinations

  • Avoid close contact with anyone who is sick

  • Consider wearing a mask in crowded indoor settings, especially if you have underlying health conditions

If you or a family member becomes ill:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advises that individuals with flu-like symptoms should separate from others and return home as soon as possible. Students and staff should remain home for at least 24 hours after a fever has resolved without the use of fever-reducing medication or until symptoms improve—generally 4–5 days after symptoms first appear.

Families are encouraged to review and update emergency contact information if needed by contacting your school office directly. Contact information for each school can be found here: www.kingstoncityschools.org/schools

Thank you for helping maintain a safe, healthy, and productive learning environment.
